How Go-Pod blown air heating works

Newer Go-Pods can be fitted with the Propex HS2000E blown air space heater, a dual-fuel system that can run from either the onboard gas bottle or 240V mains electricity.

That means you can use mains power when staying on a serviced campsite, or switch to gas when camping off-grid or on sites without electricity.

The existing video may refer to the previous Whale heating system. The newer Propex HS2000E is different, but the basic owner operation remains similar.

Choose gas or 240V mains electricity

The Propex HS2000E is a dual-fuel blown air heater, so you can use mains electricity when you have hook-up, or gas when you are camping away from a serviced pitch.

Best on serviced pitches

Using 240V mains

When you are connected to campsite mains hook-up, owners will usually run the heating from 240V electricity.

Ideal when staying on a campsite with electric hook-up

Useful for saving gas when mains power is available

Best for off-grid camping

Using gas

When you are camping off-grid or on a site without electricity, the heater can run from the onboard gas bottle.

Useful on remote sites or pitches without electricity

Gives you heating without relying on mains hook-up

A useful off-grid setup

With gas heating, the 100W solar panel and the 12V Dometic CRE50 compressor fridge, Go-Pods are well suited to simple off-grid camping when used sensibly.

Running the Propex HS2000E

A Go-Pod is compact and well insulated, so the blown air heater does not usually need long to warm the space. Exact performance depends on outside temperature, ventilation, battery condition and how often the door is opened.

5–10 mins

Typical warm-up time

A compact Go-Pod can usually be warmed quickly once the heater is running.

142g/hr

Average gas use

Useful when estimating how long your gas bottle may last while heating off-grid.

1.6 amps

12V consumption

The heater still uses 12V power for the fan and controls when operating.

2kW

Heat output

Blown air heating distributes warm air around the living space.

Remember the leisure battery

When running on gas, the heater still uses a small amount of 12V power for the fan and controls, so keep an eye on your leisure battery during longer off-grid stays.

Use this as a practical owner guide

This page is intended as a simple Go-Pod owner guide to the blown air heating system. It explains the broad differences between using gas and 240V mains electricity, plus a few useful running figures.

Always follow the official instructions for the heating system fitted to your Go-Pod, especially when using gas appliances, changing bottles, checking ventilation, or troubleshooting faults.

Gas and heater safety

If you smell gas, notice unusual heater behaviour, hear repeated fault cycling, or are unsure whether the system is operating correctly, stop using it and seek advice from Go-Pods, your dealer, or a qualified caravan gas technician.

Keep vents clear and use the system only as intended

Do not attempt gas repairs unless properly qualified

Refer to the fitted heater manual for fault codes and servicing
