Put your Go-Pod away ready for next time.

Go-Pod fitted with a winter storage cover

A practical winter-storage checklist: protect the water system, clean and dry the interior, look after the battery and plan regular checks.

Start with a storage plan.

Choose a suitable, secure storage position and check your insurer’s storage requirements. If using a storage site, ask about access, pitch conditions, security and how they will contact you if something needs attention.

This guide summarises the Go-Pod winterising document. Equipment differs by model year and previous upgrades, so use the relevant appliance manuals alongside it.

Clean, dry and inspect.

  • Remove food and anything likely to attract pests. Clean cupboards, worktops and flooring with suitable non-abrasive products.
  • Empty and clean the fridge. Switch it off separately and use its storage ventilation position, where fitted, to keep the interior aired.
  • Check window and door seals, side vents and the pop-top for damage or signs of water ingress. Arrange repairs before leaving the Go-Pod unused.
  • Let damp fabric and equipment dry before packing them away. Keep permanent ventilation clear.
  • Wash the exterior gently using products suitable for its finish; avoid pressure-washing seals and openings.

Give the water system extra attention.

Water left in the tap, pump or pipework can freeze during cold storage. Drain the fresh- and waste-water equipment and follow the drain-down instructions for the pump and fittings installed in your Go-Pod.

The original Go-Pod video below focuses on draining the tap’s water pipe. If your fittings differ or you are unsure how to drain them, ask a caravan service technician rather than forcing valves or connections.

Power down, then keep checking.

  • Switch off appliances and controls that are not needed during storage. The fridge and motor mover may have separate controls.
  • Make a battery-care plan suited to the battery and charger fitted. Do not rely on winter solar alone to maintain the battery.
  • If a tracker or alarm needs the leisure battery, account for that before disconnecting anything.
  • Secure windows and the pop-top for storage without blocking permanent ventilation.
  • Visit periodically to look for leaks, damp, pests, cover damage and a low battery.
