  • Fixing your Khyam awning to your Go-Pod.

It is also possible to use the old style awning without having to sew on an awning bead. In this case, just tie the guy ropes from the tunnel section of the awning forward, to the grab handles. Certainly worth trying first.

The recommended awning is not made by Go-Pods but is generic design that suits the Go-Pod very well.

Khyam, (the  manufacturer of the awning), do not include an awning bead for attaching it, so you’ll need to add this component yourself.

    Steps:

    • Purchase 50″ / 1.27m of 6mm awning bead. Try eBay or your local caravan shop.

    • Sew the awning bead on to the awning, at the point where it will affix to the Go-Pods porch.

    • The attached awning bead slots in to the awning rail that is located above the Go-Pods door.

NB: Go-Tarps are supplied with the awning bead already attached.

  • Garage storage V. paid for storage…

If the height is minimally lower, some owners simply deflate the tyres a litte to gain the extra height advantage but another option worth considering is storage.

The cost of paying to store your Go-Pod isn’t too expensive and should be under £300 / year. Like storing in your own garage, you have the security advantage that nobody knows if you are away or not. And with the Go-Pod’s one piece GRP shell, there isn’t any problem with keeping your caravan outside all year round – just as it is. The following link might be of interest to those considering the options. Click here. Also see this advice from GoCaravanning.com.

Of course, the other benefit with storing elsewhere is that your garage space is still free to use for other daily purposes.

  • What is MiRO & MTPLM?

MTPLM stands for the ‘Maximum Technically Permitted Laden Mass’, (750Kg on a Go-Pod), and this figure should not be exceeded. Although with the Go-Pod’s generous 750Kg allowance, you’d be hard pushed to overload.

The MTPLM must not be greater than the towing car’s Maximum Permissible Towing Mass (MPTW) which is  defined by the car manufacturer and found in the cars manual.

  • Thinking of adding alloys to your Go-Pod caravan?

    Go-Pod wheels are: 4 ½ J x 13 H2 ET30.

The “4 ½ J x 13” part of that is the size of the wheel rim – in this case it has a depth of 4 ½ inches and a diameter of 13 inches. The “J” represents the shape of the tyre bead profile (you don’t need to worry about this). The “H2” means that this wheel rim is designed to take “H” speed-rated tyres. The “ET30” figure shows that these wheels have a positive offset of 30mm.

  • Dogs in Pods?

Yes! We’re pleased to say there is ample floor space for your dog!

It’s actually 1m long by 62cm wide in standing room but additionally, the area beneath is open to access too, so even larger dogs can stretch out comfortably below the bed.

  • Solar Power – worth it?

With renewable energy being so important these days and solar farms popping up all over, we at Go-Pods believe that ALL caravans should take advantage of their large, vacant roof spaces by adding built in solar panels. After all, all caravans have a leisure battery that needs to be charged and keeping it topped up continuously helps maintain it in great condition.

It’s quite common in the height of summer to find that campsites in the area you’d like to visit, have no pitches remaining with electric hook up. The increased seasonal demand means those pitches have all been taken and that’s very disappointing.

However, they often have pitches remaining without electric hook up, so why not take one of those, get in to your favoured campsite, use all their other amenities and run your Go-Pod happily from the onboard 12V battery and gas.

Solar power is a great way to keep your battery topped up at these times and a further benefit is that pitches without hook up are cheaper, so the solar panel actually saves you money here!

Typically a non-electric pitch in the high season can save you around £50 per week, so many campers choose this option as their first preference.

We have two options of Solar Panel to offer as an upgrade, (60W or 90W), and they will even produce electricity for your Go-Pod on cloudy days.

Ultra thin and fitted to the pop-top, our solar option is unobtrusive and works in the background without you having to do anything.

Solar panels can be retro-fitted in our Lancashire workshops. For more information please click here.

  • TV & aerials in your Go-Pod caravan.

But if this service is not available, here’s a couple of things that might prove helpful…

We have a TV aerial on the Accessories page that matches the Go-Pods TV. The important thing is that it can be boosted from the TV to much improve your signal.

In the TV’s settings menu look for the ‘5 Amp power boost’ setting and make sure that it is on before starting the tuning sequence. This makes all the difference!

Also, iPhone users may like to download the iTransmitterLocator app to their phones. The app displays a big red arrow on your phone’s screen, pointing in the direction of the strongest TV signal. And certainly takes the guess work out of positioning your aerial!

We don’t offer a fixed external aerial as an accessory, as we recommend that the external shell of the Going Go-Pod is not compromised by unecessary screw holes or fixings.
